Quit smoking!!! Smoking is one of the highest and most significant risk factors in developing heart disease. Smoking can affect and damage your blood vessels and causes narrowing of the arteries due to build up. This can lead to heart failure. 

A simple oneExercise for 30 minutes most days. Doing so can be helpful in controlling your weight and keeping those nasties away such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes. 

Eating a diet rich in wholegrains, fruits, vegetables and lean meat is essential for good heart health. It is important to limit sugar and salts from your diet as well as things such as deep-fried food, packaged foods, margarine, chips and cookies. 

Get enough sleep!! Not getting enough sleep can do more than just leave you feeling tired. It can be detrimental to your health. Risks of having high blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity are linked to a lack of sleep. 

Finally, make sure to get regular health checks to check for things such as high cholesterol and high blood pressure. If these are caught in time they can be managed and the risk of heart disease or failure will be smaller.
