How To Give a Heartfelt Compliment

World Compliment Day is recognised annually on 1 March. It is a great reminder to observe something good in someone and communicate it to them. But, how can we do this?

Many of us find it very difficult to give a compliment, but it doesn’t have to be that way.  It is simply about observing and finding the good parts in someone and letting them know about them.

Surprisingly, 61% of us say that accepting a compliment is embarrassing, however that doesn’t mean that we don’t need to hear one!

Expressing our admiration for someone is something that doesn’t always come naturally to may of us and may be something that needs to be learned. With purpose and honest intention, compliments can be a very important part of relationships and can change the daily lives of those on the receiving end.

So, what are some ways to give a heartfelt compliment?

Leanne & Fitness Tips Say:

Verbal Compliment

When giving a verbal compliment, it is important that it is sincere, honest, and comes from a heartfelt place.  It could be as simple as letting someone know that they have done a good job in the workplace or that their hair looks lovely.  Offering a deeper compliment, say, letting them know what an impact they have made to your life is even more meaningful.

Send a Card or Note

Handwritten cards or notes are a thing of the past now that we have social media and emails etc.  Handwriting a letter or note is so much more heartfelt than a text message.  Choosing a card that suits the person it is intended for and writing how you feel about them is a great way to compliment and make someone’s day!

Share the Passion

On the days surrounding and leading up to World compliment day, let others around you know.  Encourage them to give compliments to strangers, acquaintances and the ones closest to them.  Spreading positive affirmations and love is great for us humans and the planet!!

In this ever changing and fast paced world that we find ourselves in, it is important to stop and think about the important things in life.  To let others know when they have accomplished good things and how people make us feel in a positive light.  More than anything it is vital that we teach the children of today how to be sincere in paying attention to others and to not take for granted those around them, but to appreciate them and let them know it!
