Balance. Life Balance. Work Balance. Relationship Balance.
We all strive for it in every aspect of our lives…or do we?
The only place we do not seem to want balance is in our health & fitness plans.
We want to be on a diet, but with no exercise. We want to exercise like a nut, but be able to eat whatever we want.
Oh, but never talk about mindset. That’s only for people with no issues and 99.99% of the people I coach never have any issues. ?????
Being out of balance with our health plans is like being out of balance in our lives. If we work too much, our home life suffers. If we spend too much money, all other parts suffer.
I submit to you (I believe) that in order to have a long term healthy and fit life, we must have a balance.
The areas we would want to balance are:
- Goal Setting
Some people even think that if they take a pill a day, all will be right with the world. We flip flop from one extreme to the other in all of these areas.
All of these areas should be considered on a daily basis and worked in moderation. Here is just one recommendation:
- Set reasonable goals (weight, exercise, etc) and monitor them. Go over them in your mind and then make any adjustments. (15 minutes)
- Read a chapter from a positive book or listen to 20 minutes of a motivational tape. (20 minutes)
- Plan your meals and include reasonable treats. (15 minutes)
- Exercise at east 20-30 minutes every day. Some days you might do an hour class. Other days, a brisk 20 minute walk would be in order. (1 hour)
What I just proposed would take under 2 hours in a day’s time. That is 8% of your day.
The question is : “Are You Worth 8% of your day?”
